Disclaimer: My one overriding political stand is that church and politics should not mix - especially in church, and especially from any pulpit. So when I deviate from this here on my blog, it's comes from a place of "caution" and the desire to call out hypocrisy. I endorse no one.
1. When you are mad at Donald Trump for suggesting that Muslims be completely banned from entering the USA "'till we get this all sorted out." Simply becuase of their association with Islam. Then England... ummm.... a 300,000 strong petition demanding Trump not be allowed in the UK is a little hypocritical. Do you get the irony? Are you really saying you don't want this man here becuase of something he believes. Come on, surely you are better than this. Two wrongs never make a right.
2. Senator Cruz. I've met you, and your wife, and of course your daughters. And I say this outside of the political realm - you seemed like a truley lovely family. Really. And while I disagree with many (many) of your positions, I found you to be charismatic, and even sincere. And I would strongly support that your children be left out of the political jabbing as seen in the cartoon in the Washington Post. But your case would be a whole lot stronger if you had not used your children in a Saturday Night Live sketch. You brought them to the table... You put them out there to win support. Simply put, if you don't want them attacked, don't put them in the fight.
