In the middle of the week evening meetings, we had Mike Tucker. Long time Adventist know him from his television "Faith For Today" program. But just a few months ago, Pastor Tucker lost his wife to a short battle with Cancer.
Now... if you are in the congregation here, it is not hard to find how much time the preacher has been given. There are red digital clocks everywhere! Mike Tucker is a professional media man, so those of us backstage, where we also have that time clock constantly, were not worried that the meeting would go long, or short.
I could be wrong, but I think the sermon Mike preached finished with about 10 mins to go. Because at this point, it sounded to me that he went "off script". But he didn't finish. Instead he used this time to share from his heart - his pain, his hope.
Ask anyone in that service and you'll hear that everyone was touched. We remembered those minutes long after the sermon time finished. For many I spoke to, this was their meeting highlight this year.
