For reference: Galatians 5.22-26
We've all met them. The grumpy people in church that feel called to fix everyone and everything that walks, crawls, flies through the door. Ok, in my years of ministry, I've not met many things that flew into church - except angels perhaps, and these people would not hesitate to correct them too!
But we should not rant at them too much - lest we become them. Instead, they just have not ripened yet. You see, as we grow in Christ, we mature and develop more of the fruit of the Spirit - we become more loving, gentle, kind and good etc.
And this is a beautiful thing. The trouble is, before fruit ever tastes so good, it is actually quite sour. So you have dear dear saints, thinking that they have come along way in their walk, displaying all sorts of sour fruit! Goodness that is bitter, kindness that is tart, gentleness that is... well, not gentle yet!
These people need to be loved (and not put in charge of anything). They need to be taught, and demonstrated to with the real, ripe, thing. For ripe is sweet. So be patient, and don't provoke (check the verse out again), and pray they grow into the real deal.
