Once upon a time, I was sitting in a postgraduate youth ministry class - hearing about all the things that might make us more effective. It was quite a list, prompting one of my classmates to raise his hand and say "but if we do all of this, and look after our family, and nurture our own spiritual lives, there just isn't the time in the day!"
Boy am I glad I didn't say that out loud. Even though I was certainly thinking it.
The professor - Chap Clark, who I have huge respect for, replied "I'm serious about this, if you'd actually get up early in the morning, you'd be amazed at how much you can get done in a day." I've a feeling many youth pastors present were convicted in that moment.
If you have hung around the Adventist church for a while, chances are you've heard it said that sleep before midnight counts twice as much as after midnight. Now, I've no way of actually measuring that, but here is my twist on it - Getting up by 6 am doubles your capacity to achieve and be effective in your chosen walk of life than getting up at 10 am!
