I run a Pathfinder club here at my church. One year ago, I participated in the conferences annual 50 mile bike-a-thon. It was exhilarating... and quite painful.
This Sunday I get to go do it again.
Last year I told myself that I need to do this sort of thing more. Or not at all. More would have me build up good stamina. Less would mean I could avoid the whole thing all together!
But this middle ground... this apathy to training and preparing... this lukewarm business is useless to everybody. And just means days of saw muscles as I finish the 50 miles on sheer determination alone.
Jesus says in Revelation 3 - it's better to be cold than lukewarm. But once again I'll dive in, and once again I'll promise myself through the miles I will do this more regularly this year to be fully prepared for next year.
