Someone says hi… and the attention feels nice.
Then you find out that they really want you to go to their church, and while you feel slightly used, the attention still feels nice, and you go… and everyone you meet that first week is just so nice.
You go back… everyone is so glad you came back! Boy does that feel good.
You start to volunteer to show up.
You ask what is important here? What do you stand for? What’s your weird thing? (Every group, especially churches have a weird thing).
People just can’t wait to tell you!
People pray for you!
People rejoice with you when you join! Life has never been this good - oh this is wonderful.
You can’t wait to be nice to someone else… you know… pass it on.
But everyone seems to be going back to their rooted friendships.
No one goes out of their way to be nice anymore.
In fact, some are down right mean when you don’t do the right thing, and say “you should know better”.
You know… I don’t think I have any faith… and this does not feel so good.
