Life gets very frustrating for all of us at times. Our plans don't work out like we thought they would. There are many reasons for this - but a lot these reasons revolve around picking and choosing what we take from scripture. Instead of studying the book like something incredibly valuable, instead of allowing scripture to interpret itself, instead of surrounding to the power that put this book together, we make ourselves the authority over what it says.
"I think . . ."
Or, "this means that, so I don't think it applies . . ."
Or, "this is too hard . . ."
Or, "It's different for me . . ."
Or, "I've no idea what that's about so . . ."
. . . block it out.
Instead, why not find yourself a great Bible, in a version you understand, and come to it with an open heart, and a surrendered will. Turn your maker into a highlighter, and dive into the Word of God. :-)
