Here's a quote from someone somewhere once upon a time: Every day above ground is a good day.
And there are a bunch more like it. Sayings that are supposed to remind us how powerful we are, and what good things we can achieve simply by trying. Things like: You can't look after others if you don't look after yourself. Or: You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
And I like them. Some of them speak to me and give me real encouragement in the moment. If I'm open to the moment I can be shown something from a different angle and that can truly benefit my day.
But many motivational tools are seriously crock (which means many words I choose not to use on this site). They don't solve anything. And you know what - not every day above ground is a good day. There are some pretty bad ones too.
As a Jesus follower, you have so many inspiring teachings that encourage you to change and live better lives. But you are also tapped into the Creator, and Savior, who does all those impossible things for you.
So reject the call to live for yourself, and open your life up to living for Jesus, and yes, get inspired, but even more than that: Let go, and let God.
(Yes, that is also a corny phrase... but it speaks an abundance of truth I choose to share).
