There are a lot of books out there, and they are not all created equal. If you are an Adventist, and looking for some good reading to get your more grounded in or acquainted with your faith, then let me share what I have found helpful in my journey.
- The Messiah, by Jerry Thomas - a more modern, shorter version of the book Desire of Ages by Ellen White. This is a great way to focus on the life of Christ.
- Victory In Jesus, by Bill Liversidge - the best book explanation of grace and how we are saved (if you don't count Romans). This book also includes how Adventists came to these conclusions of salvation by faith. If you cannot explain salvation to yourself, or anyone else, you just have to read this.
- A Search for Identity, by George Knight - Adventists have not always believed the same thing over their 160 years of existence. And this book will lead you through the thoughts and belief developments along with some of the discussions along the way. it's not too long a book, and will give you a great overview. Plus, George Knight is just cool, and you should read something of his.
- The Green Cord Dream, by Alex Bryan - So how relevant is the Adventist message in a changing world? How does the church change while keeping its focus and living its calling. I absolutely loved reading this book. I was reading everything I was thinking, but did not know how to say.
